Mentefactura innovation event in Guanajuato

El Día de la Mentefactura 2023 in Guanajuato brought together innovators, visionaries, and local stakeholders to ignite the power of co-creation and accelerate the social-impact solutions needed for the 5.0 evolution of the ecosystem. Fab City Foundation was there too!

Día de la Mentefactura is an annual event that took place in Guanajuato, Mexico, on 20-21 April 2023. The event was organized by the local Fab City representative IDEA GTO, the innovation agency of the State Government of Guanajuato. The event’s main attraction was the “Innovation FestiLab,” where participants focused on co-creating and accelerating social-impact solutions by collaborating with local and global allies, striving towards the 5.0 evolution of the ecosystem.

Mexican Cluster Activation

Fab City Foundation is developing regional and linguistic strategy, supporting the Fab City Network to work in clusters in their regions, incentivizing in-person and virtual meetings with the aim of fostering a sense of community and enabling the development of regional and linguistic network strategies. The Día de la Mentefactura event was an opportunity for the Mexican Fab Cities and Fab Regions to meet in person. The city of Puebla and the regions of Yucatán and Guanajuato were there represented.  A Mexican Fab City Network workshop took place, facilitated by the Fab City Foundation team, focused on sharing the initiatives and progress made by different cities based on the Full Stack layers. As a result of these efforts, it was decided that the Mexican cluster would continue to meet periodically, with the frequency to be determined. Additionally, they committed to collaborating on a common idea or project that would be presented to the community during the Fab City Summit in 2024, to be held in Mérida, Yucatán.

Research and Innovation Opportunities

Another goal of the global initiative is to broaden the research and innovation opportunities in strategic regions. The strategy involves clarifying the Fab City Foundation Research & Innovation approach with regional clusters. During the event, the Fab City Foundation team explained its aim of  mapping funding opportunities and organizations in Latin America and proposing joint innovation projects as partners with our Fab Cities, thereby leveraging available resources and fostering collaborative initiatives for research and innovation in the region.

Preparation for the Fab City Summit 2024

The preparation for the Fab City Summit 2024 was driven by the goal of ensuring a successful event. The strategy involved outlining the local expectations of the summit and aligning them with the strategies of the Fab City Foundation. As a result, it was determined that the summit would take place in Mérida, Yucatán and would span three days, following the Fab24 Conference event in Puebla.
