Fab City Foundation at the last CENTRINNO consortium meeting in Geneva
The focus in these last few months is on the legacy of the project.
Part of the Fab City Foundation’s team attended the last consortium meeting of the CENTRINNO project in Geneva, from September 26th to 28th, 2023.
This was the last consortium meeting of this exciting project that has produced great resources (such as Cartography, Living Archive and the Fab City Hubs Toolkit).
This 3-day event started with a panel discussion on policies that are being considered to encourage the establishment of Productive City actors on the scale of the City of Geneva, the Canton of Geneva and the entire Franco-Vaud-Geneva agglomeration. Following, the consortium partners worked on the presentation of the Final Report by building the Work Packages’ Narrative. The first day closed with visits to local initiatives related to i. local production, social inclusion and heritage (i.e. L’API, ATELIR MIG and L’ILÔ 13); ii. culture, circular economy and heritage (i.e. USINE PARKER and MARBRERIE); and iii. vocational training (i.e. CFPT).
Day 2 started with some talks on the ZIC-MACO. The panel went through the steps that led to the creation of the MACO, from the first exchanges with the Municipality to the model of governance, from the setting up of operations to the communication strategy. The speakers – all three co-founders of the MACO – talked openly about the “dos” and “donts”, the successful and the less fortunate decisions, the human and logistics issues and solutions that were found to move forward. After the panel, the participants of the meeting had the opportunity to join a guided tour to the MACO, the ZIC site and the ZIC neighbourhood.
The last day of the consortium meeting was dedicated to CENTRINNO’s Legacy. We discussed potential ways to achieve the long-term sustainability of the project and the relevant resources produced, as well as opportunities for future collaborations.
Partners are working on delivering the final outputs of the project.
The focus in these last few months is on the legacy of the project. Fab City Foundation is fully dedicated to this goal and will contribute to this process by incorporating the produced CENTRINNO resources into its agenda and, thus, sharing them with other cities from the Fab City Network. At the same time, Fab City Foundation aims at creating connections between the CENTRINNO partners and pilot cities with other nodes from the Network to facilitate knowledge sharing.
