Distributed Design Platform

The Distributed Design Platform promotes collaborative, open, and locally grounded design practices across Europe. It connects designers, makers, and institutions working within distributed production models. For Fab City, it strengthens the cultural and creative backbone of local manufacturing ecosystems.

Project Impact.

The platform reinforces the idea that production is not only industrial but cultural. It supports emerging designers working within open-source and distributed models, expanding the visibility and legitimacy of local production networks. Through awards, publications, and cross-border exchanges, it builds a shared identity around distributed design. Within the Fab City Global Initiative, this project strengthens the creative dimension of relocalized production. It connects fabrication, culture, and economic experimentation, reinforcing the narrative that cities can produce differently without disconnecting from global collaboration.

Project Outputs.

The project generates awards programs, design publications, research outputs, open resources, and collaborative events. It builds a documented body of work that continues to inspire and inform Fab City communities exploring new models of distributed design and value creation.
