Driving Design Volume I documents the emergence of distributed and digitally enabled design practices connected to fabrication laboratories and local production ecosystems. Through projects, reflections, and applied research, it explores how design becomes a driver for innovation when linked to digital fabrication, open knowledge exchange, and place-based experimentation. Within the Fab City framework, this publication contributes to the understanding of how design operates as a strategic layer in the transition toward locally productive territories, connecting education, prototyping, and community-based manufacturing into an integrated production model.
