We bring together cities, regions and other territories working towards resiliency by prototyping locally productive models.
Until cities produce everything they consume.
We are a global collaborative platform where cities, regions, islands and countries work together to accelerate the transition toward regenerative, locally productive and resilient futures.
During the 2014 Fab City Summit, the then-mayor of Barcelona challenged cities and regions to produce almost everything they consume by 2054.
Since then, cities and other territories have pledged to join the Fab City Network to dedicate themselves to produce energy, food and materials locally, to invest in environmentally and socially resilient practices and to share these globally through open platforms.
Currently, 56 cities, regions and other territories are part of the Network.
Universities, research institutes, Fab Labs, citizen-led organisations, public authorities — many profiles can apply to become a Fab City and lead the initiative locally, as long as it is officially backed by the city, region, island or country it represents.
To join the network and carry out the Fab City project in your local ecosystem, you'll need a strong consortium and a clear vision for local production and regenerative communities.
Becoming a Fab City means publicly committing to produce locally what your territory consumes by 2054. It's a civic pledge, a direction that reshapes how a city plans, invests, and builds.
Each Fab City defines what local production means in its own context, and joins a global network of 56+ cities, regions and territories working on the same shift.
Globally connected, locally productive: discover what our members and partners are working on here.
Membership is open to global entities working toward locally productive systems. For cities, regions and other territories that want to become socially and environmentally resilient and regenerative.
