Fab City

2024-2027

GreenInCities

GreenInCities brings together cities, researchers, and local actors to rethink how nature-based solutions are designed and implemented in urban environments. The project focuses on co-creation processes that connect ecological regeneration with local production, community engagement, and long-term resilience. For Fab City, this sits directly within the ambition to strengthen bioregional systems and reconnect cities with their ecological context.

Project Impact.

GreenInCities expands the Fab City narrative beyond production and into territory. It reinforces the idea that local manufacturing, circular systems, and food, water, and material flows cannot be separated from biodiversity and ecosystem health. Through real pilots across European cities, the project integrates nature-based interventions with participatory governance and local innovation actors. The impact for the Global Initiative is strategic. It deepens the bioregional dimension of Fab City, moving the conversation from urban resilience in theory to tested collaboration between municipalities, researchers, hubs, and communities. It strengthens Fab City’s positioning within European sustainability frameworks while remaining grounded in distributed, community-driven action.

Project Outputs.

GreenInCities delivers co-creation toolkits, urban nature solution pilots, policy recommendations, and practical implementation frameworks. It produces replicable methodologies that can be adopted by Fab City localities seeking to integrate ecological regeneration into their transition roadmaps. The knowledge generated feeds directly into network workshops, strategic conversations, and future bioregional projects.
